Who am I? Chicken or eagle? part 1
Guess we have all heard the story about the eagle and the chicken. Born and raised amongst chickens, the eagle not knowing who it was, copied their behaviour, scratching for worms, clucking and cackling. It didn’t even realise that it could fly higher than just a few feet into the air before crashing to the ground. On seeing an eagle in the sky one day he was wowed by its graceful manoeuvering. ‘Who is that?’ he asked all glary eyed. ‘The king of the birds,’ came the reply. ‘He belongs to the sky and we belong to the earth – we’re chickens.’
Do you know who you are? Chickens travel in crowds and are bound to the earth. They gravel
for food and do not mind being caged. This is not so with an eagle, they must be free; it’s in its nature. What about you? Are you thriving or just surviving? Do you long to rise above the clouds to make your home in the mountains? Or are you comfortable staring and ‘wowing’ at other’s gracefulness. You can choose. Contented to flap around or prefer to soar? Chicken or eagle, what will you be?
